The impact of skipping rocks
Have you ever wondered what type of impact is made when we tell someone about Jesus?
If it's a friend or family member perhaps we will be given the opportunity to see the changes Jesus is making in their lives, but even strangers are impacted, we just won't see them. Jesus doesn't want us to share His message for our benefit, but for the benefit of His kingdom and that of the receiver. That certainly doesn't make it a thankless task though, because if we look at the BIG picture we will see the difference that's being made.
Think of it like skipping rocks on a lake, have you ever done this?
Every time that rock skips on the water it leaves ripples, and every time we share Jesus' message we do the same thing. The person we share it with is the first ripple, then they tell someone and the ripples continue, the impact is far in every direction, and that's amazing. Also, just like that skipping rock, it may skip several times before it sinks into the lake, and so it is with people.
When we skip that rock by sharing Jesus' message, we leave ripples and eventually the message sinks in with someone, allowing Jesus to work His way into their lives. We may not know the impact of every ripple, or where it sinks, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't skip rocks.
