P.R.A.Y. Continually
As children of God we are called to pray, not just once in a while, but continually.
Why would God want that? Because we have a loving Father who wants to hear from us, and He loves us so much more than all we can ask or imagine.
Reading through the gospel we see Jesus constantly praying - giving thanks, blessing meals, making requests, and even making requests for others. There are many times in the gospel that Jesus went away to pray and to be alone with the Father. In Matthew 6:6 Jesus tells us - "when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father" [read the verse here]
Jesus told many things using stories and metaphors that could be hard to understand, but when He spoke of praying it was very clear... go some place quiet, by yourself, and talk to God. Why was He so clear? My thought is because prayer is a gift, giving us the ability to have a conversation directly with God. Jesus knows it's important, because when we commit to doing this, our relationship with Him grows and is strengthened.
Here are some things you may find helpful when praying:
P - Praise God! He is glorious, the creator of all things, be in awe of who He is and adore Him.
R - Release. Let go of your wants and submit to His will for your life.
A - Ask. God wants to provide, ask Him for what you need, and make requests for others who are in need. Perhaps healing for a friend, or the homeless person who needs food and shelter. Ask for guidance on how to pray. .
Y - Your thanks. We have so much to be thankful for, because even in our darkest moments, the sun still raises and sets as God commands.
God loves us and He wants to give us good gifts, He wants to hear us, and He wants to be heard.
Jesus said - "If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" ~ Matthew 7:11 [read the verse here]
Pray Continually and you'll see the positive impact it has on your life, it's amazing what some 1-on-1 time can do.
May God bless you all,
- your family in Christ Jesus
